Our Story

Hi, I’m Lisa, the Chandler/Perfumer behind Blue Moon Candles.

Our studio, nestled in the Columbia River Gorge near the Cascade Range, is enveloped by lush forests fed by the Columbia and Washougal Rivers. Inspired by this raw beauty, we hand-pour each candle in our mountain workspace.

 

I embarked on this business journey fueled by my unwavering passion for candlelight. There’s something truly enchanting about how candles cast their warm glow, transforming any space into a sanctuary. It’s a natural living light, gentle on the eyes, and evocative of romance and tranquility. As the flickering flames dance, they uplift our spirits and create moments of serenity.

I have an ardent love for niche fragrances. The way scents intertwine with our memories is truly remarkable. A single whiff can transport us back to our carefree childhood days, evoke the warmth of holiday moments, or conjure up the serenity of a forest walk. Fragrance, emotion, and memory dance harmoniously in our minds, creating an intricate tapestry of sensory experiences. It’s astonishing that our brains can recognize and recall over 50,000 different scents! Imagine combining these olfactory delights with the gentle glow of light—what a magical fusion!

Let me share how it all began! After my personal battle with breast cancer and witnessing my daughter’s struggles with allergies and asthma, I became acutely aware of the challenge in finding locally made, health-conscious candles and perfumes that actually smell delightful. That realization fueled our mission. We take immense pride in meticulously crafting our products using sustainable, clean-burning natural waxes—such as coconut, apricot, soy, and vegetable. Our commitment extends to using only phthalate-free fragrances, essential oils, and botanical blends sourced from top fragrance houses worldwide. When you light one of our candles, you’re not just illuminating your space; you’re creating a tranquil sanctuary, knowing that our creations are free from harmful chemicals. And, by the way, I’ve been perfecting the art of candle-making since 1999. 🕯️🌿✨

 

Our candles are meticulously crafted to enhance both burn time and appearance. They emit exceptional fragrances, both when hot and cold. Each candle is poured with intention and undergoes a soothing 528Hz sound bath for healing and love. We take pride in using only wood and all-cotton wicks. Our candles are hand-poured right here in the Pacific Northwest. Our business was born from a passion for handcrafted candlelight and a deep love for this beautiful region.
